custom sofa- inspiration, building, and final...urban workroom

my boyfriend was in desperate need of a new couch...the current one was being held up by a few books for one of the legs. we did a little research to find a great sofa that would fit him and i. (side note: he is 6'5 and i am 5'11). so, we headed over to montauk sofa (www.montauksofa.com) where we tested their oversized furniture. the sofas are beautiful and fit us well size wise, but after looking at the prices it became clear that retail was not the way to go. so, we decided to build a custom piece.
we used a very luxurious velvet fabric from Kravet, and accented the lines in a silver silk piping, finished with 1" spaced nailheads at the bottom.
